The only complaint I have about Gold Mountain is the relative lack of variety. But I guess I should be glad that they care enough about quality to only serve dishes that they cook well.
Favorites for me today were har gao (shrimp dumpings: always good, and today they were the best I've had anywhere in a long time), sticky rice with chicken and sausages wrapped in lotus leaves, and dessert silken tofu in ginger sugar water. Others really liked the deep fried sesame balls and siu mai. Honestly, the only bad dish today was taro cakes. But I don't even really fault Gold Mountain, because I have yet to find a dim sum restaurant in the Bay Area that can serve me a hot, tasty taro or daikon cake with a crispy crust. Everything other than taro cakes was delicious.
The photo is of (from left): siu mai, xiao long bao, deep fried battered shrimp, har gao, and bbq pork in a pastry crust.

i am a crust lover myself, and always seek but rarely find a hearty crunch in my lo ba go. imagine my surprise and delight in finding it at a place you've recently visited, and didn't particularly care for - the slanted door ;) it's a non-traditional prep, and priced to match, but an appealing treat for crust fiends. stroll over there for a pre/post lunch snack on some sunny day and enjoy. don't worry, we won't tell your mother how much it was.
