Memphis Minnie's
Chowhound posters consistently rave about the brisket, so I got some today. It was very smokey and well flavored. However, it was dry and devoid of fat, except for one slice that had a thick layer of hard chewy fat along one edge. I had to douse it in sauce. My favorite was the South Carolina mustard sauce, followed by the North Carolina sweet sauce (not really sweet). I didn't like the Texas Red sauce at all, but maybe the mustard and vineger in the other two had killed my taste buds by the time I got around to it. Minnie's seems to have a very Texan slant, but I learned today that the owner really favors mustardy/vinegary sauces. That's fine by me!
The slaw was very tangy, had no mayo, and was quite crunchy. I enjoyed it more than I enjoyed the brisket. The cornbread was okay too, albeit a bit gritty.

I'm so proud of you...preferring mustard- and vinegar-based BBQ. I should get you some Big T's Sauce from the restaurant by my house. You can put it on anything!
