It's It!

If you haven't lived in the Bay Area, you probably haven't seen these ice cream sandwiches. They have a good-sized cult following in the Bay Area, but not a very wide distribution elsewhere. They're fun for nostalgia's sake, but not my favorite ice cream sandwich. They're just so cheap and so ubiquitous it's hard to ignore them. And there's something to be said for supporting a local factory instead of a huge national megacorporation. They're only about $1 at every corner store, and come in four flavors: vanilla, cappuccino, mint, and chocolate. Every sandwich uses oatmeal cookies and is coated with a very thin layer of chocolate. I like the mint, but wish the formula hadn't been changed to a bizarre turquoise color instead of classic mint green.

So they come in different ice cream flavors? When I first saw the picture, I thought it was one of those chocolate covered marshmallow thingamajiggers that Hello Kitty companies used to sponsor.
