This has been my breakfast at work each day this week: a light roast coffee from the bulk bins at Whole Foods, brewed in a french press; and a bowl of Fage Total Greek Yogurt with a drizzle of honey and a handful of crushed almonds.

It's a surprisingly filling breakfast because of the almonds, which have lots of protein, vitamins, and help raise good cholesterol (KK, anything you want to add?). It was sort of a take on cereal, but with much more contrast: soft yogurt vs. crunchy almonds, sweet honey vs. slightly salted almonds. I really like dishes that have a lot of contrasts, so this was great. Thank you to KK's family for their prize California almonds. To make this breakfast perfect, all I needed were a few berries for some extra color and flavor.

Almonds are an excellent source of protein, calcium, magnesium, HDLs (as you mentioned!), iron, fiber, and are the MOST nutritionally dense nut. So suck it, walnuts, peanuts, brazil nuts, and all you other crappy nuts. Suck it long, and suck it hard.

that combination sounds fantastic. so far i've eaten oatmeal and brown sugar almost everyday this week in an attempt to clean out my pantry. but i think it's time for some variety. thank goodness i'm going home soon.

Almonds are indeed great, they are also loaded with Vitamin E. However, don't ban walnuts yet, as they are the only nut that has Omega 3s. Variety always wins out.

Have you tried the FAGE 2%? So rich, so creamy, WAY less fat...delicious and light.
I'm actually eating the Fage Fat Free, which is definitely not as good as the 2%. I'm only buying 2% from now on.
Agreed. I was eating the non-fat for a while, but it's only 50 more calories for the 2%, which isn't even a direct comparison, as it's a larger container.
I'm so obsessed with that stuff that I stock up, as Whole Foods and other stores tend to run out and have trouble re-stocking.
I have 16 in my fridge right now...LOL.
