Gaaaaaaag

Gag alert. Look away if girly topics upset your stomach.

I can't drag my feet too much more on this if I want to be married by early 2008, so I raided the nearest Border's today. I also stopped by Staples for a cute notepad and file box, because stationery stores excite me more than wedding shops. Go figure. I'm not very organized by nature, but I'm hoping I can at least start stashing info for different topics in folders (location, food, dress, flowers, band, photographer, etc.) and then get more organized after I've narrowed down some choices.

Wish me luck! I need all the help I can get. Any super girls out there want to help me?! I am so not Bridezilla. I wish I had Monica's wedding binder from Friends.

I wore my new knit hat today. There were compliments. :)

  • My wife made a binder when we got married two years ago, it was like project management, even though she's not a project manager by trade, she did a great job that most project managers would do. It's a year long planning.

Maybe you can pick up project management guidebooks also to help in your planning process.

    Hope this helps, and congrats.

  • My head hurts after looking through two magazines and ripping out everything I liked or found useful.

I'm going to eat a big hulk of cake now.

  • I've helped my GF's plan more so cal weddings that I feel like I can start my own planning co. My last one (A.) did her in six months!! It's very easy to be overwhelmed, so just start ONE step at a time and have a budget for EVERYTHING (this really helps with Negotiating with vendors... and ALL of them Negotiate!!). Before you know it, you'll be knocking stuff off the list.

Many of the girls used Binders (Both pre-made and not), others used spread sheets, and some just organized e-mails. It's all about what works best for you (And what fits the kinda of planning you are doing, many of the newer brides them did it almost all on-line!)

Anyway, if you need someone to bounce ideas off of, need any help or just need to vent, you have my e-mail!! :) Best of luck!!

  • If you really want to experience girly overload, check out theknot.com. They have a ton of information on their site, but the best place to find information are the message boards. I don't know how busy the California boards are, but there should be plenty of other brides there to help you out. The best part is that you can register and post, but you can also lurk and just gather ideas.
