Aha!
Like this!
Except we like v-neck dresses with straps, not strapless dresses that cut straight across the chest.
NOT like this. My mother made me try this on. And while it's certainly not the worst dress I've tried on, don't I look like Cake Topper Barbie? And as much as I love to flex, I'm actually holding the camera in front of my face on this one.
Here is the purple/pink/fuchsia silk aisle at F&S, just for fun.

Of course it is. When you Google "fuchsia bridesmaid dress" that's what pops up.
Depending on the manufacturer it can be darker or lighter, but lighter to me is hot pink, not fuchsia.
The shade of these dresses is also closer to the color of actual fuchsia flowers (fuchsia is the name of a breed of flowers).

Pei, is there a dress shop you like more than others? I've heard bad things about Marylinns in Pasadena, and good things about Mon Amie in Costa Mesa.

I've been to Marilynn's on Robertson, and it's just RIDICULOUS. The people are really pushy, they only have $$$$ stuff, and it's not that much better than anywhere else.
My favorite store was LA Bridal on Western in Koreatown. Expensive, yes, but super nice ladies even though I speak no Korean. And since they cater to an Asian clientele, they order their gowns in smaller sizes so I could see how they fit better than the size 10-14s at most stores. And I heard from another bride there that they are willing to let you haggle a little.
I never made it as far as Mon Amie--sorry!

Another tip if you're shopping in the $1000+ range: try on lots and lots of designer gowns at high end boutiques. You'll start recognizing names (Maggie Sottero, Melissa Sweet, Pronovias, and Casablanca were some that I found not offensive). Figure out what make, model, and size you like, and hit ebay.com. Then, ask the boutique to match the price and if they won't, make sure the on line vendor is reputable and just get it through them!

DANG girl you have one friggin HOT BOD.
The first pic of the girls on the beach -- the color of their dresses looked way better than the colors shown in that final pic. Esp better than that eye-blinding bolt that was pulled out the widest. The second-to-right bolt, however, was was quite nice.
Awesome bod. Awesome. I can't say the dress looked bad at all, actually. But it's the classic case of: if the wearer is HOT, it doesn't matter WHAT she's got on, she's gonna look great.

Aw, *blush*
(it's a waste to hide it under all that tulle!)

Thanks for the tips! So... can you hint on what your dress will look like? Sheath? Mermaid? Or does future hubby read this?

Sheath: too slinky. I love a slinky gown in a dark color, but in white it's VERY revealing. Borderline indecent, in fact.
Mermaid: I really like it, but it's hard to find the perfect one. There were a few I liked, but ultimately I decided against it.
Ball Gown: too big. I look like a ball of fabric with a head in them because I'm short. Imagine the photo above, but with a bigger skirt. Ridiculous.
Tea length (full skirt to just below the knee, very '50s): adorable! I love this look. If I were doing an afternoon wedding I would do this.
A-line: very safe, easy to wear, works on everyone, elegant, never goes out of style.
The gown I decided on is kind of a twist on the mermaid and a-line styles. Muahahaha...you'll have to wait and see.

ChezPei was blessed with a teeny tiny waist. So envious.
I think that would've been a cool bicep flex photo in a bridal gown. Too bad. But you're right, that skirt is too poofy even though in the pic it looks nice. I think it would be annoying to walk around it.

Actually (and you know how I feel about frilly), that dress looks very good on you! Seriously! the proportions are fine. And you really look like a princess. (In a good way.)
