Millions of Peaches...

Peaches for me! Just kidding, these are for the family.

$2 a pound at the Galleria Farmers' Market--a whole dollar less per pound than anywhere at the Ferry Building! It's not what I'd call a steal, but I think it's worth the price. All of the peaches were bigger than my fist, extra fuzzy (meaning they haven't been refrigerated or out of the orchard too long), and noticeably fragrant. I also got some nectarines and plums.

These two were the prettiest, I think. My favorite peaches are any variety of the dark fuzzy ones with orange flesh. The yellow ones can be good, but I like the tanginess and honey-sweet combination of the orange fleshed peaches.

This is not peaches related but I'm visiting San Fran soon, and was wondering if you have any recommendations for restaurants or favorite places to eat???

I have a lot of favorite places to eat. What are you looking for? Casual, fancy, Asian, European, etc? Where are you staying? Off the top of my head I would say Delfina or Zuni for a very SF Italian/California Cuisine experience, Gold Mountain or Y Ben House for dim sum, any of a number of Indian places, Pearl's Burgers for a medium rare buffalo burger, Bourbon and Branch or Rye for drinks, Tartine and Bi-Rite Creamery for sweets, Spices if you're inclined toward trying stinky tofu, and the Ferry Building especially if you can make it on a Saturday morning. That's the usual gist of an itinerary I'd plan for any friends visiting for the first time.

There are places that are "better," but those are some of the places that I've visited again and again and never tired of.

Wow, thanks for the suggestions! Still looking for a place to stay but it seems like Union Square area is where most of the big hotels are. We're also considering renting a car and heading out to Berkeley to eat a Chez Panisse, have you ever been? Is it worth the journey?

I still haven't been, but by all accounts it's worth the journey. You could make an afternoon of it and explore Berkeley. A reasonable subsitute in the city would probably be Zuni. Boulevard also gets great reviews but I haven't been either.
