Pei to the rescue? I hope so! I purchased some wonderful grass fed Aldersprings Ranch steaks and ground beef. I have no problem cooking the steaks, but I can't decide how to cook the ground beef. The meat is so good I don't want to hide the flavor very much, and hamburgers sounds a little boring. Also, I can't eat tomatoes. I thought maybe with your gift of being able to throw things together and make a gourmet meal you might give me a couple of suggestions. Oh please most beautiful Pei come to my rescue. (I'm hoping flattery will work with you) lol. G
I like chili, but that might not meet your standards of not covering up the flavors too much. Here are some other ideas:
-really fancy hamburgers, with blue cheese, caramelized onions, good bacon, roasted vegetables, or some combination of the above. Use foccacia instead of buns for a little more flavor.
-spice it with a little cumin and other Middle Eastern spices and fresh herbs, make little meatballs or patties, and put it in some kind of pita/lavash sandwich with minty yogurt sauce or hummus and chopped romaine.
-make Swedish meatballs since Italian meatballs in red sauce is out.
-sautee with fresh beans, which I recently found at the Ferry Building and enjoyed a lot.
I like the sound of the Middle Eastern spices idea. Can you come over this weekend and make it for my lunches next week? Please? Oh well, wishful thinking. I wish there was a Ferry Building close to me. I luv that place! I might try the Sweedish meatballs too. Although most of the recipes call for a mixture of beef and pork or veal.
