Back Home Snacking

Aaah, it's nice to be home. LA was great, but sometimes I don't want it to be 80 degrees outside at nine in the morning (make that I never want it...).

As usual, the post-Los Angeles detox began as soon as I hit San Francisco. Homemade yogurt, sliced apple, and ginger granola. Yum! Not to toot my own horn, but I'm noticing my homemade yogurt is getting better and better. I think the stuff you buy at the store has always been sitting around for anywhere from a few days to a few months. Not only does yogurt get more sour as it ages, the good bacteria in it also eventually dies off. So when you go to make more yogurt from it, there aren't very many healthy bacteria left to multiply and the resulting yogurt is a little sour and watery. But over time, my yogurt has gotten strong and healthy, so its offspring keeps getting thicker and less sour. Yay! I may be ruined for storebought forever.
