Foggy Bridge Zinfandel
Bargain alert: Foggy Bridge 2007 zinfandel at David & Spencer's food outlet on Polk Street. I've never purchased wine at David & Spencer's because the place screams "cheap swill." However, several of their offerings were written up in the San Francisco Chronicle this week. and everyone knows that desperate wine makers are heavily discounting wines at all price points because they can't make room for their new wine. So I gave them a chance, and I'm telling you now that you should too.

Foggy Bridge wine is one of the few wines that's made in San Francisco; the winery is at Chrissy Field and is open to tourists! That's just trivia, but the wine itself really isn't half bad! Bargain priced at $10 (retail $26), it's dark, smooth, round, undeniably zinfandel-y, and goes down real easy. It could probably use a little more aging, but it's just fine as is.
Today we'll be enjoying our wine with a ratatouille drizzled with truffle oil, baked sweet potato, and Greek lemon soup. How many plants are we eating today, you ask? Ten! I'm getting really good at this.
