Bracing and embracing all at once, the Sazerac is an acquired taste for poetic souls. Richly flavored, with hints of anise and citrus, it's just what I needed on this cold Wednesday night. Proceed with caution, but know this: if you give it a chance, you're sure to fall in love with one of the world's most classic cocktails.
3 oz Sazerac Rye Whiskey
1/2 teaspoon French style absinthe
1/4-1/2 teaspoon simple syrup
1 dash Angostura bitters
1 lemon peel (though, as a fan of the Old-Fashioned, I sometimes prefer orange)
Stir ingredients together and pour over ice. Easy peasy, time for a Sazerac!
